These images designed for the OEM have in particular that they want a certificate that prevents the user to activate their Windows. It was therefore necessary to modify the disk image to make him believe “that she was well on a machine from Lenovo.

The OEM certificate has no wording changes from Vista. It is always a file with the extension. Xrm-ms and its structure is always the same. The consequence is obviously that the hijackers knew that the way to “crack” Vista no longer had to use it again for Windows 7.

The problem for Microsoft is that piracy seems complete:

* The key used to validate the installation is called “master” and can therefore be used to activate all the other OEM (for nostalgic video game, think about the Skeleton Key Zelda 1)

The hacked version was found in China and then recovered from the forums. Currently, it is already being widely spread through P2P networks. But be careful, because what works today does nothing for the future: Windows Genuine Advantage validation and may change once the method and root out pirated versions.
