Review: Sony Vaio VGN-FW351J/H
Given its price of $ 949, sets the retail Sony Vaio VGN-FW351J / H, the basic elements – namely, the processor and graphics card – a cheaper laptop. In the mouth, instead of a prize for best performance, the Vaio FW-series optical drive you can play Blu-ray (in addition to CD / DVD and creation).
Those who need more energy for your $ 1000 to go elsewhere. However, if you have already started to accumulate Blu-ray, the VGN-FW351J / H is a good choice for the mobile collection without sacrificing performance.

The FW351 is a laptop refined and attractive, which will be maintained in line with the Sony high aesthetic quality. Covered in a palette of gray titanium, silver and gray, the system is reminiscent of an Apple MacBook Pro, but the speakers are respectable over the keyboard instead of the coast and the keys are blank not black. (This is only a small configuration, a black version with a keyboard is available directly from Sony.)
Built on the left side of the hinge is the power cable while the power button is located on the right side and light turns green when the laptop is on and “breathe”, with an amber light when asleep. We have always loved Sony flat, widely spaced keypad, but some prefer a more traditional height, tapered key.
Above the keyboard on the right side is a row of buttons to control the media, a label marked otherwise S1 and AV. S1 is preprogrammed button to mute the sound, but can be reassigned to other tasks such as launching an application installation included. The AV Mode button down Vaio rapid implementation of the press launch of the menu bar at the top of the screen that lets you choose between different multimedia programs to access your music or photos or play a DVD. You can add or remove menu items or icons to connect to another application (click to start music from iTunes instead of the pre Vaio MusicBox).
Sony includes a handful of multimedia applications, such as MusicBox who can analyze your music collection and automatically create stations mood, activity, time of day, or style. Worked better than expected and is a bit more fun than your standard “shuffle.” There is also Intervideo WinDVD BD for VAIO to watch Blu-ray of the box.
The 16.4-inch widescreen LCD offers a native resolution of 1600×900, which is lower than other 16-inch 16:9 laptops like Dell XPS Studio 16 (which maxes at a 1920×1, 080 resolution), and is not ideal for 1080p HD video content.
