VIA releases its first open source graphics driver for Linux

VIA has released its first graphics drivers open source stable for the graphic Xorg server running Linux. After the announcement of its new optical opening of the free world, VIA puts into practice its promises.
The site dedicated to the open source community VIA centralizes these new drivers, that everyone can download on this page. Available everyone to participate in the development of these drivers, they can enjoy the full documentation VIA available on the same site.
The pilot currently available, however, suffers from some limitations of size. It does not yet support the latest graphics circuit VIA VX800, and especially does not yet 3D acceleration, video codecs and encoding equipment necessary for TV output, unlike the pilots Xorg owners VIA. This remains a very first step for VIA in the open source community.
