S3 Graphics announced its new graphics processors Chrome 500
The manufacturer of graphics cards S3 Graphics, belonging to VIA Technologies and counting as major competitors Nvidia and ATI, has developed a new range of graphics chips, the Chrome 500, whose first born is the Chrome 530 GT card. For now, this chip is based on cards PCI Express 2.0.
Chrome 500 Series announces a much better performance than the previous range, the Chrome 400: earnings performance announced by S3 Graphics would be about 30%, with energy consumption of only 25 Watts.
Chrome graphics chips 500 are compatible with DirectX 10.1, dedicated to multimedia applications, and OpenGL 3.0, specializing in 3D rendering. They also have a new engine decompression dedicated to HD, HD Chromotion, which can decode H.264 video formats, M-PEG 2, VC-1, WMV-HD and AVS.
The graphics card Chrome 530 GT is clocked at 625 MHz, 512 MB of onboard memory to 500 MHz GDDR2 with a 64-bit interface. Equipped with DVI and HDMI connections, this card is currently sold at just under 45 dollars. S3 Graphics does not hide it positions itself rather in the graphics card entry, more computers for the living room.
