Review: Panasonic Toughbook F8
Strong artist
The Toughbook F8 features a 2.26-GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor SP9300 and 3 GB of RAM, which combined to give very good results in productivity reference. The machine to start Windows XP in just 44 seconds and in 4174 marked a PCMark05. He is also quick with multimedia tasks, which require only 4:40 to re-encode about two hours of music on iTunes. More impressively, the Toughbook F8 no time at all to do the same job requiring a scan iTunes with Windows Defender runs in the background, which bodes well for multitasking. With 160 GB, 7200 rpm hard drive is small, but fast, who finished the race in 4:55 LAPTOP transfer rate of 17.3 Mbps, which is just above the category average.
As with other notebooks, the Toughbook F8 for Intel integrated graphics chipset is not a competitor for demanding tasks in 3D. The system performance of 1921 in 3DMark03 (DirectX 9 performance tests) and a modest 753 in 3DMark06 (which tests DirectX 9 3D graphics, CPU and 3D) show that it is fair for the effects of Windows Vista Aero (whether to choose the operating system Vista Business is available), but not games. In fear, we have seen images of only 19 fps at 800 x 600 pixels with the parameters of autodetect fps and 7 in the group’s native 1280 x 800 setting.
Battery and Wireless
The F8 offers an impressive resilience. Which lasted 5 hours 38 minutes in our LAPTOP Battery Test (continuous Web-based Wi-Fi), which is more than one hour more than the half-thin and light laptop and 22 minutes more than the PC .
The wireless performance of the machine is slightly above the average of proposing something less than 20.0 Mbps at 15 meters from our access point, which is short of 50 feet, with a sub 13.3 Mbps. Bluetooth and has integrated Gobi 3G mobile broadband (via all major mobile operators) have covered all the bases wireless.
Software and Security
As expected, for a machine, software preloaded Panasonic minimized. The company includes recovery disks for Windows XP and Windows Vista Business. Panasonic pre InterVideo WinDVD player applet; Roxio BackOn way of disaster recovery, file backup and system restore, and Roxio Creator of LBJ and the creation of the extraction of audio CDs, and copy data CDs and DVDs (although this does not include the construction of Roxio DVD module author). The system is covered by a three-year limited warranty and 24 / 7 telephone support.
