lg versa g01 300x193 Review: LG Versa

This is a unique touch-screen phone, but may be more problems than it’s worth it. Versa LG, Verizon Wireless ($ 199 with two-year contract and rebate) includes a set of cases that the keyboard can be attached to heavy-duty message or leave when you want to travel light. The device also has an attractive 3D interface can be filled with shortcuts to your contacts, websites and other applications, and an accelerometer that responds to changing the orientation of the screen and you allows you to play motion controlled games.

However, with the elimination and the keyboard is a bit of pain, and using the Versa as a phone connected to the keyboard is difficult. Also, I do not understand why LG does not have a size of 3.5 mm headphones. Versa is an interesting concept, but only a few are worth of the versatility of its high price.

Design

If you like the idea of having a detachable keyboard, to be prepared for some compromise. By itself, the Versa is very light and easily portable, measuring 4.2 x 2.1 x 0.5 inches and weighs 3.8 ounces. The phone is much narrower but a bit heavier than the 3.7-oz LG Dare. Although a little tired, still, black-chrome look on the touch screen of LG phones, and the Versa fits easily into a pocket without a keyboard.

Adding the keyboard of the balloon weight to Versa 5.6 ounces, but do not give much wholesale. The good news is that the hinge is sturdy and serves as an attachment Pleather cover with a 0.9-inch OLED screen Peeking in the call. Unfortunately you must remove the battery cover to connect the keyboard, but ensuring that users lose. (The cover also hides the microSD card slot on the right side of the phone, but it’s forgivable.)

The left side of the Versa is still embarrassing the 2.5 mm headphone jack (which does not accept standard headphones without an adapter 3.5 mm), volume controls, the camera button and a USB port for owners and loading. This is where you find the mechanism to unlock the battery cover and keypad entry. The elimination of the two is relatively simple: just press the switch down while you pull a little plastic lip that conveniently integrated.

Keys and other opportunities

Versa typing using the touch screen of 3 inches is not a fun experience. We as a QWERTY shows when you put the phone in landscape mode, and that the letters, after reaching up to them to confirm their entries, but too often the wrong Versa wrote the letter or not our first contact. The physical keyboard is attached a different story: The keys are large and bright, what makes a good click, and have a good amount of travel for fast text input. Our only beef is that the key is in a strange, to the right of the key L. LG could have put the key in the period of the bottom row, if you just got rid of the arrow keys, which seems unnecessary, a touch screen.

Though pleather cover doubles as a keyboard with an external display and dedicated Send and End keys, and May even have a conversation with the flip closed, using the verse in this way can be misunderstood to comfortable. For starters, you can call the last number, you must open the phone to browse through recent issues, or using the Dialpad. And if you call a number to enter after you dial the numbers, or as an extension of the voice menu or service, you need to open and close the door for further conversation.

Versa LG could be more convincing over time as Verizon Wireless and LG embargo to other modules. Although nothing is confirmed, the issue of stakeholders and play.
