HP launches its first laptop touch screen multi-touch

HP launches its first portable multi-touch, the TouchSmart TX2, which allows full control office via a touch screen. This technology, similar to that used for the iPhone and other portable devices, has been provided by the Israeli firm developing software N-Trig. Microsoft said it would introduce the concept of multi-touch on the next version of its operating system, Windows 7, whose launch is planned for 2010.
“You can surf Web sites and view photos or videos in a few gestures. This is an entirely new way to enjoy digital content on a laptop,” said Ted Clark, senior vice president and general manager Division HP Notebook Global Business Unit.
“With the introduction of TouchSmart TX2, HP gives its users a simpler and more natural to interact with their PC, while contributing to the success of innovations related to touch technology,” he adds. This technology allows users to move objects on the screen, to reduce, enlarge and to open and close applications with their fingers. It also comes with a stylus in addition to the mouse and keyboard.
Equipped with a series of AMD Turion Dual Core and Windows Vista, the 12.1-inch notebook features a swivel screen, which can use the PC as a conventional laptop. His starting price is 1 149 dollars.

It’s not easy to get excited about a new laptop, but HP has certainly reeled us in with its Touchsmart TX2 notebook. Ok, we’re suckers for novelty, but we like the idea of a tablet-like screen to follow us around the desk, not

Yeah, now I got my Touchsmart tx2, and, sadly, cannot recommend it at all. It works very well – as a hairdryer. The fan is terribly loud and nearly always on, even with power saving set to maximum. No fun to work with.
