Hercules ECAF: NETBOOK finally playing the card of difference

Designed by specialist video games and accessories recreational high-tech under the brand Guillemot Hercules, the NETBOOK ECAF brings a little oxygen on a stifling conformity. In contrast to most major brands (HP, Dell, Lenovo, MSI and even the pioneer Asus), which eye increasingly to the market for portable classical and prices exceeding 400 euros, the Hercules ECAF offers a NETBOOK whose configuration and price are clearly distinguishable.
To arrive at a price of 299 euros, the Hercules board components ECAF very different from the competition. In place of the inevitable Intel Atom, the manufacturer has opted for a processor to all economic points of view, the AMD Geode with 512 MB of RAM. Savings are also achieved at the screen (8 inches and 8.9 inches) of hard drive (20 GB and non-DSS) and operating system (a derivative of Linux Mandriva).
The Hercules ECAF weighs less than 1 kilo and its 4-cell battery is supposed to offer more than three hours of battery life. According to its manufacturer, ECAF back to basics concept NETBOOK: a mini computer support, easy to use, dedicated Internet access and digital entertainment. It offers all the basic features of a computer (internet, email, office, etc..) Via free software recognized: Firefox, OpenOffice, Thunderbird … For multimedia, numerous audio and video codecs have also been preinstalled to play various file formats: DivX, Xvid, MPEG, MOV, MP3, WMV, etc..
The ECAF has WiFi connectivity b / g, but also an Ethernet port. As against, the impasse has been made on the Bluetooth link. Application side, two resolutions are available to choose from: 800 x 480 pixel native for reading text and 1024 x 600 pixels, for web browsing more comfortable.
Finally, to complement the limited storage capacity of ECAF, access to an online storage of 30 GB is provided for two years.
