Facebook attacked by a worm

A victim of its success, Facebook automatically attracts malware. With nearly 100 million users worldwide, the site of social network is the target of attacks of all kinds which are aimed primarily its members. Many users complain of an invasion of spam, others argue that their account has been attacked or disabled.
Earlier this week, Facebook said that the problems “related to a limited number of users” but that the site had already “detected and destroyed a computer worm.” According to the information provided by the Community platform, the worm is similar to Koobface, malicious software, which was attacked by MySpace and Facebook from last July. Since the first appearance of Koobface, publisher of IT security solutions Kaspersky Lab has identified no fewer than 27 variants of the worm.
