20 awesome free downloads that are not OS Windows 7

In recent days, Windows 7 is almost the only operating system, nobody has talked about. I thought it was time for us to share love and have a look at other interesting things that can be downloaded free of charge in the operating systems.
Here is a collection of 20 deserve to be visited. There are many more, so if you want to add to your favorites, share them in comments!
Fedora 10 (photo) – One of the few distributions that Live has no problem with the equipment in my NETBOOK MSI Wind. My test: can suspend and wake up properly? Yes – and makes it faster than Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7. OpenSUSE Ubuntu rather restart correctly.
Damn Small Linux – I do not feel right not Damn list. It’s quite amazing what you can do with a set of operating system which is not much bigger than most antivirus applications of Windows. 50mb you Firefox, XMMS, vncviewer, MS Office Viewer, and more. It is also easily expandable through the service or using the MyDSL apt.
Linux Mint – If it is based on Ubuntu, the Mint has certain characteristics which I think are a little easier to use. For starters, there are several easy ways to find and install new software, including the dead Currency simple portal. Find an application, click install, Bada Bing!

Studio 64 – If you are in digital content creation of any type – audio, video or graphics – Studio 64 is a distribution of the value of downloading. Is full of amazing multimedia applications and, contrary to its name, is available for platforms 32-bit as well.
live.linux-gamers.net – One of the main complaints about Linux is “Where are the games?” To see some, why not download a live DVD containing a truck that can run without installing anything? FPS, racing, platformer, is the name – this disc is for you.
Slax – This has always been one of my favorite Linux distributions light. It is 200 MB and includes a large number of applications. Includes a boot option really black as follows: act as a PXE server, allowing other computers on the LAN Slax to start on the network.
NimbleX – If you’re looking for a light to run on Virtual PC, check NimbleX. The distribution is the smallest I’ve seen that comes with Sun’s virtual box. You can even customize your ISO on the site before downloading if you wish. Awesome.

Haiku – Inspired by the BeOS, Haiku strives to provide an environment that is fairly simple to use for beginners, but powerful enough for more experienced users to enjoy as well. As they say on their website, Haiku aims to be “free from any unnecessary complexity.” There is also ZEVEN OS, Linux distribution with a BeOS-inspired vision.
ReactOS – certainly an ambitious project, ReactOS is trying to produce a free society, not linux environment that is fully compatible with Windows applications and drivers. Which has a long way to go, but it is an interesting project to keep your eyes on.
Mac-on-stick – Sure, OSX is beautiful and functional, but it can fit on a flash drive 32 MB? Stick-on-Mac is a complete environment of Mac OS 7.0.1 running on Windows, Mac, Linux and Pocket PC. Use it to run applications or the old school classic games like Dark Castle. It is also part of the follow Portableapps.Com.
OSX86 – No, there is a link to it, gang. I have included OSX86 (which can be found in all major torrent tracker kalyway research) because it is a striking example of what a computer enthusiast community can do. There is even a customized version that suits floating around the MSI Wind NETBOOK ..
NetBSD – If you are interested in testing the Hackintosh thing, why not play with the basics of Mac OS X? One of the great things about NetBSD is the astonishing number of hardware can run on platforms including Playstation 2 and Sega Dreamcast. You can also try a slight Jibbed NetBSD derived livecd xfce4 functioning.

Open Solaris – The good people of Sun plays an important role in developing a free operating system, a lot. Open Solaris is extremely stable and is designed for reliability and network performance. This is an excellent base for NAS devices and servers.
Freen – Speaking of NAS, if you have an old Junker around what you want to do something useful, Freen is a good option. This is a barebones distribution based on FreeBSD and is designed to convert old hardware simple network storage.
IE Application Compatibility VPC Image – More free from Microsoft? SVC understand. VHD files XP and Vista machines that can run within Virtual PC for testing applications on different Windows operating systems with different versions of IE.
VICE – still technically not an operating system, but I’m not sure anyone is really looking for multi-VIC20 Commodore 64 or operating systems. Also start the emulator VICE C128, PLUS4, programs and PET.

GeeXboX – Another great use of an outdated machine in a media server / HTPC and GeeXboX is an operating system to activate. There is even an ISO generator that runs on Mac and Windows that can be used to create a disc of GeeXboX with different themes, languages, network settings, and more.
Unravel – isolate a free, open source portal that is available as a real operating system and a Windows application. Windows “app” is a good option if you do not have spare equipment for machines beyond the bridge.
Finally, deployment Appliance – UAB VMWare is a slick device that lets you easily ISO images via a PXE. I love it. Nor on the wrong sequence griping Vista or XP installation disk, just start using the LAN interface.

GParted – If you use a “dubious legal” solution Hiren’s boot CD to manage partitions on the hard disk, you must give a chance GParted. The interface and functionality is very similar to Partition Magic, GParted and is completely free and open source.
