Western Digital officially launched its new 3.5-inch hard drive of the 2 TB WD20WEADS.
Unveiled in January, the information is now complete.
This disc is part of the Green Caviar range, indicating a more reasonable power consumption than conventional hard disk. On this point the manufacturer specifies a demand of 7.4 Watts read / write to 3.9 watts in idle.
The capacity of 2TB is obtained by using four 500 GB platters (with a density of 400 area Go/in2).
Noise, an average of 29 dBa are advanced. It operates a SATA II interface and have a 32 MB cache
Accompanied by a 3-year warranty, the WD20EADS offers several technologies such as:
- StableTrac the motor shaft is fixed at both ends to reduce vibration from the system and stabilize platters for tracing faster during the reading and writing (2 TB models only);
- IntelliPower: compromise between speed and transfer algorithms and caching for significant energy savings and performance;
- IntelliSeek: Calculates optimum seek speeds to lower power consumption, noise and vibration;
- Technology loading rail NoTouch (Technology NoTouch Load Ramp): the recording head never touch the disk media, ensuring better protection of the disc in transit and a significantly lower wear of the head and the recording media .
Its availability is scheduled for early February and its recommended price is € 299 anyway.
