AMD: the Phenom X3 II to deal with the Core 2 Duo
Pending a new generation of dual-core, which should not happen until the second half of the year, AMD is counting on its Phenom II to three hearts to deal with Intel Core 2 Duo.
Indeed, the smelter had recently announced an Athlon X2 7750 based on the first generation of Phenom with two cores disabled, which was not really a success.
Indeed the pain to deal with its rival in terms of performance while being much of energy.
With the arrival of its models by 45 nm to three hearts, which will be compatible with socket AM2, AM2 + and AM3, AMD intends to attack once again the famous Intel Core 2 and try to dethrone.
If the consumer should not be their strong point, because of the presence of three hearts, the price / performance ratio could be much more attractive.
With the frequencies that will climb up to 2.8 GHz, L2 cache that remains of 512 KB per core and L3 cache of 6MB, they could easily get to make the shadow of the fastest Core 2 Duo in applications taking advantage of several hearts.
According to our colleagues from Fudzilla, with a rate of less than $ 150 for the fastest model, against $ 163 for an E8400 clocked at 3 GHz with 6 MB of L2 cache, the new AMD baby might be very interesting.
It remains to be seen what will be in the facts, and what are the rates charged on the French market. What we should do very soon.
