AMD 790FX chipset and socket AM3 in Gigabyte

The manufacturer Gigabyte has unveiled its first motherboard to accommodate the future AMD Phenom II socket AM3, the GA-MA790FXT-UD5P. Almost identical to the models presented today by its competitor MSI, this motherboard stamped Ultra Durable 3 is as its name indicates the high-end chipset for AMD, the 790FX and the SB750 southbridge.
It therefore supports DDR3 memory via the integrated controller for the upcoming AM3 Phenom II. It also provides two PCI Express x16 with ATI CrossFireX technology. A total of ten SATA ports are available, including six in RAID 0, 1, 5 or 10 through the southbridge. Two Gigabit Ethernet ports to aggregate throughput of two connections are also available. The panel input / output also 8 rear USB ports, 2 Firewire connectors, taken 2 PS / 2 keyboard and mouse, 2 digital audio outputs and a set of 6 input / output analog audio.
The AMD Phenom X4 II 920 and 940 launched earlier this year to use socket AM2 + and are therefore not supported, the first AM3 processors are expected to share in the second quarter of the year. Like AM3 Phenom II, price and exact date of availability of this motherboard is not yet known.
