Review: Corsair Flash Survivor (16GB)

Rugged, lightweight, and excellent speed, the Corsair Flash Survivor USB flash drive is a very capable and outdoor types like Klutz. Prices under $ 50 at select online retailers, the Corsair Flash Survivor does not offer security features, but users of the overall capacity storage device to find a good data transfer.
Design
The survivor has the impression that the Sherman tank of USB flash drives. At 3.3 x 0.9 x 0.9 inches, is longer and thicker than the standard flash drive, but it comes with the degree of protection. His body is rock solid cylinder, the category of aircraft aluminum that are not flexible, even if we tried to bend it with both hands, and the safety of rubber shock damage. If the characteristics of sustainability, are not sufficient, survival is also water resistant to 200 meters, courtesy of a EPDM waterproof seal. Corsair includes a USB extension cable, too.
Performance
Write a video file of 1 GB to 16 GB of disc has been a long 3 minutes and 18 seconds, or 5.1 Mbit / s, which is almost three times slower than the Kingston DataTraveler HyperX category 15.0 MB / s mark leader, and about 4 Mbit / s slower than the average flash. Fortunately, the survival rate was good reading, that reading the same file on an ultra-fast 42 seconds, a rate of 24.3 Mbps. While almost 3 Mbits / s faster than the average, slower than the 9 MB / s OCZ Technology Rally2 stellar 33.3-MBps performance. Unfortunately, while the victim is ready to withstand a hurricane, can not keep hackers out, as he has no encryption.
Verdict
We like Corsair Flash Survivor a tough-as-nails physical resistance, which is a backup copy of ten-year warranty, but the write speed is sub. If you do not need crazy performance, this USB stick is a must.
