Digsby: instant messaging, but not only!
In the world of IM clients multi-protocol, it has long known Gaim and Trillian. While the first fades with time (version 4.0 is waiting for a long time), the second has become Pidgin, including standard used in many Linux distributions under GNOME.
However, talk of a “new” come: Digsby. It is not new in the strict sense, but its development is young, the first versions were a bit raw and suffered many problems, which sometimes excessive consumption of RAM. Problems that have mostly been corrected now, and the software starts to gain a certain renown.
Just like Trillian and Pidgin, Digsby is multi-protocol. However, it is compatible with fewer instant messaging protocols relative to its competitors, but he won however compatible with several social networks. Are supported:

* LinkedIn

Digsby also supports the management of electronic mail (POP3 and IMAP accounts), and will display the first lines of a new post, causing the latter also a warning. You can mark mail as read or as spam directly from the software, as well as we can write a letter from the window-mail contact.
Finally, Digsby comes with several themes, both for the window contacts for those discussions. The themes for these are otherwise identical to those found on Adium, software familiar to Mac users.
