Video Cards entry: the comparative 2008

To test the performance of our graphics cards more or less entry, we used the platform as detailed below:
* Motherboard Asus P5E3 Premium – (BIOS 0505),
* Intel Core 2 Extreme E8400 (3 GHz)
* 2x 1GB memory DDR3 Corsair CM3X1024-1800C7 @ 1333,
* HDD Western Digital Raptor 150 GB – Serial ATA-150
This platform operated under Windows Vista Ultimate Edition with Service Pack 1 and using the latest BIOS
and updates available on the date of the test. Later graphics cards, we tested a wide range of maps of the Radeon HD 3450 with the Radeon HD 4850 through the GeForce 8600 GT or even the GeForce 9600 GT.
The pilots were on CATALYST 8.9 for AMD cards and drivers 177.92 GeForce chips for NVIDIA.
On the side of the resolutions we have adopted the 1280×1024 resolution 19-inch screens, the 1680×1050, with screens 20 and 22 inches and 1920×1200 for the 24-inch screens. The latter resolution, agree it, surely extreme for a map, GeForce 9400 GT or Radeon HD 4550 but more appropriate for a Radeon HD 4670 or
GeForce 9600 GSO.
3DMark Vantage

It always starts as our series of tests with 3DMark Vantage. Foremost, we find the Radeon HD 4850 monitoring GSO GeForce 9600 and GeForce 9600 GT. The XFX card is tied with the GeForce 9600 GT, with its higher operating frequencies. The Radeon HD 4670 fails to match the GeForce 9600 GT, however it is much better than the GeForce 9500 GT, yet tested overclockée edition. Faced with the GeForce 9500 GT, the Radeon HD 4670 is two times faster. The new Radeon HD 4550, it is a bit better than the GeForce 9400 GT, with 32% higher performance in 1680×1050. Note the lack of results for the Radeon HD 3450 in high resolutions 1680×1050 and 1920×1200, the benchmark refusing to run with this card.
Enemy Territory: Quake Wars – v1.4

Using the OpenGL graphics engine of Doom 3, with some additional refinements, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars gives the Radeon HD 4850 winner of this test. In second place we find the GeForce 9600 GSO from XFX overclocked while the GeForce 9600 GT is the third in front of the head Radeon HD 4670. This pulverizes the GeForce 9500 GT, with 75% higher performance in 1680×1050. It should be noted that the rest of the GeForce 9500 GT displays the same performance as the GeForce 8600 GT, a card yet much older. As for the Radeon HD 4550, it also surpasses the supply of NVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT is seriously behind. And in the face of the old Radeon HD 3450, the new Radeon HD 4550 is 97% faster in 1280×1024.
