The next evolution of netBook, these ultra-cheap laptops, happen it by touch screens? Asus, the pioneer in this market with its Eee PC, seems to believe. At a press conference just before the public opening of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the Taiwanese manufacturer introduced a prototype of the next generation of its NETBOOK star, the Eee PC T91.

Its main feature is its touch screen, 8.9-inch LED backlit, rotating and collapsing on the keyboard to switch from NETBOOK than a tablet. According to the blog Wired, who attended the demonstration in Las Vegas, users T91peuvent touch screen as well with their fingers (multi-touch) or with a stylus acting as the mouse.

The terminal weighs just over 900 grams and incorporates an Intel Atom Z520 (1.33 Giga-Hertz) for reasonable performance and classic for a terminal in this category. Optionally it will also host a TV tuner and a GPS.

There will be a Windows XP and Linux (the latter should be less expensive). The price of the Eee PC T91 have not been revealed. The Taiwanese manufacturer announced that the new terminal will be available as early as next March.
