hp mini verizon g01 300x193 Review: HP Mini 1151NR

What good is a netbook that you can take everywhere if you can’t stay connected everywhere? Enter HP’s Mini 1151NR, the first netbook offered directly from Verizon Wireless with integrated mobile broadband. Assuming you’re willing to pay $59.99 a month for 5GB of data, you can skip the bulky, awkward USB modem and get your Web fix on the go. You can also save some serious cash on the hardware. The Mini 1151NR sells for $199 (with a two-year contract and $50 online discount), versus $569 when similarly configured through HP.com. But while this netbook is a handy Web surfing companion, and we like the keyboard, the included 3-cell battery doesn’t last long enough on a charge. Plus, the device gets very warm during use.

Design

Like its predecessors, the HP Mini 1151NR is one of the most compact netbooks on the market, measuring only an inch thin and weighing 2.4 pounds. The swirl pattern on its glossy black lid gives this machine subtle elegance, as do touches such as the silver speaker bar above the keyboard (which reminds us of a long shaver foil) and the 10-inch screen’s flush display bezel. Up front you’ll find two switches with their own LEDs, one for power and another for wireless.

lenovo s10 2 300x237 Lenovo Ideapad S10 2 brings connectivity 3G

Long Lenovo time has not taken from the renovation of its ultraportable one to send a new version, the Lenovo Ideapad S10-2, improving several of its benefits and with adjustments in the design, like a customized cover in different colors: gray, rose, target or black.

Maintaining a good number of characteristics of the previous model, like the processor Intel Atom, it continues offering the face monitoring system through webcam, allows which us not to have to use passwords to accede to the operating system and to thus be able to protect our files.

With a screen of 10,1 inches, it has been reduced two centimeters and the less than average thickness to, as well as the weight to less than 1 kilo. That does not prevent that the Lenovo Ideapad S10-2 has a very good keyboard, with a size of 90% of a portable keyboard of conventional.

In this model we will be able to count on connectivity 3G integrated, as well as a system of Dolby sound, that allows us to emulate the 5,1 conventional earpieces. The battery is another one of the interesting points, with an autonomy of up to six hours.

It will be put on sale in Spain during the next weeks by 339 Euros.

Review: MSI GT725

laptops 35 1 300x244 Review: MSI GT725

MSI proves that you can purchase a very solid gaming machine without taking out a second mortgage with the GT725, a $1,699 rig that features a powerful quad-core CPU, robust graphics, and Blu-ray playback. We’re not fans of the keyboard, and the design could use a bit of a refresh, but overall, you get a lot for your money.
A Gamer’s Design; a Keyboard for Few

Lacking flames or glowing alien eyes, the GT725 may not be as ostentatious as other gaming rigs, but it has plenty of touches to remind you this is no ordinary notebook. The system has fire red accents, and the blue neon lights illuminate the responsive, touch-sensitive media controls, status indicators, and power button. However, this design is practically identical to every other MSI gaming notebook we’ve tested recently (such as the GT627, the GX630, and the GX720), and like the Gateway FX Series, is starting to look a bit dated. The brushed-aluminum lid and base gives the 15.5 x 10.9 x 1.0-inch, 7.6-pound system quite a solid feel, but the palm rest and keyboard demonstrated a fair amount of flex.

asus n20 300x250 ASUS N20, 12.1 inches with illumination LED

The launching of Samsung N310, ASUS also presented/displayed the past week a new model of portable that although it does not belong to the range of Asus EEE PC deals with a portable one of reduced dimensions and with a duration of at least amazing battery.

I speak concretely of the ASUS N20, a portable one that owns a screen LCD of 12.1 inches with illumination LED, keyboard to the complete one and perhaps most surprising it is than its battery of 6 cells provides to portable an autonomy of up to 12 hours. The explanation of this longevity in its battery is explained because it owns the system EPU (Energy Processing Unit) that detects with extreme precision the energy needs and realises the respective adjustments of energy arriving to save until a 35% of the battery of this ASUS N20.

Samsung’s N120 netbook joins the crew, offers a full-size keyboard and 10.5 hours of juice

samsung n120 2 300x212 Samsungs N120 netbook joins the crew, offers a full size keyboard and 10.5 hours of juice

Samsung is really fleshing out its netbook lineup, following up the lovable N110 and N310 with the N120, another 10.1-incher, but with enough screen bezel to make room for a full 12.1-inch-style keyboard. Samsung also found enough room inside for a 6-cell battery that can muster up to 10.5 hours of runtime. There’s also a 1.3 megapixel camera, 3-in-1 card reader, three USB plugs, a Bluetooth option, and Samsung made use of those wide expanses of plastic on each side of the screen to place some decent speakers. It’s overall a premium offering to the N110′s vanilla utility (with regular Atom internals and XP on top) but you’ll have to make up your own mind on aesthetics. Both the N110 and N120 hit Europe in April, no word on price for either.
