Scribd, the popular reference site for sharing documents, has launched a new version of its site. The home page in the past had been criticised for the disorder of the elements, which are not put in evidence the functions of the site.
With the new page, however, there are many differences. Starting from a visible search bar on the right, and a button “Upload” positioned near the middle of the page. Scribd was launched in spring 2007, and now claims to receive more than 20 million unique visitors monthly.
However more than half of this traffic comes from search engines, something that the site would change. The new site design is intended to make more visible the function of internal research, encouraging subscriptions. According to the latest statements, this re-design caused an increase in visits by 70%.
